Patient Procedure Instructions

Purpose of the Procedure

To examine the pancreas and biliary tree with a flexible instrument and x-ray.

Preparation for the Procedure

The Day Before the Procedure

  • If your procedure is in the morning do not eat or dink anything after midnight the night prior to your procedure.
  • If your procedure is in the afternoon, you may have clear liquids up to 8am (coffee, tea, soda, water, clear juices, clear broth, popsicles and jello).

Your Appointment

Arrive at the hospital two hours prior to your procedure. You should check in at the Admitting Department. After they complete your paperwork they will direct you to the short stay unit where you will be prepared for the procedure.

Be prepared to be at the hospital for about 6 hours. Depending on the results of your procedure you may be admitted for overnight observation.
